Maternity Care Coalition Stands with Asian American Communities

This week we learned of the tragic news that eight lives were taken in Atlanta. We hear repeatedly that violence and racism have no place in America. Yet once again, violence has led to lives lost. Six of the victims were Asian, seven of them were women.

In the past year we have witnessed a significant rise in Anti-Asian attacks provoked by racist propaganda. The AAPI community has experienced harassment, violence, discrimination, and hate. These atrocious acts and this country’s history of racism, bigotry, and xenophobia is fueled by white supremacy and systems that uphold these racist ideologies that promote inequities.

To our staff, our clients and AAPI communities, we see you, we hear you and we stand with you in solidarity. As an organization we have vowed to hold ourselves accountable by calling out hate and racism and holding courageous conversations with our communities and partners so we may begin addressing these deeply rooted issues.

Our vision is to create a future where parents impacted by racial and social inequities can birth with dignity, parent with autonomy, and raise babies who are thriving. To do so, it is imperative that we collectively uphold our own vows and work together to dismantle white supremacy and move towards justice.

With Solidarity,

Marianne Fray, Chief Executive Officer
