Thank you!
What a beautiful morning dedicated to #NormalizingBreastfeeding and building support for breastfeeding families! Thank you to all of the mothers who latched on at Franklin Square and around the world.
Our Director of Breastfeeding, Katja Pigur, had this to say about the #2018MCCGBLO:
This was a true team effort and it all translated into a beautiful event with a total of 131 event participants, including community partners representing 21 organizations and companies. During the Big Latch On at 11:00am, synchronized with moms and babies all over the world, 28 moms latched their babies in Franklin Square. It was truly inspiring to see the room completely filled with mamas and babies! Breastfeeding families and partners alike expressed their enthusiasm and joy for this event.
Globally, the 2018 Big Latch On was also a major success! Between August 3, 4 and 5 2018, almost 60,000 people around the world took part in the Global Big Latch On, demonstrating their support for breastfeeding. 22,592 breastfeeding parents attended events held in their community and virtually. At the specified time, over 21,500 children ‘latched’ and were breastfed. With 778 events taking place in 28 countries, this synchronized breastfeeding event as part of World Breastfeeding Week supports and celebrates breastfeeding families in the community they live in.
We’d also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Jovida Hill, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Commission for Women, our volunteers, the Big Latch On event committee, our generous sponsors and all of the day’s attendees. Browse our photos from the day’s events to see photos of the vendors, the Big Latch and the speakers. Thank you again for helping Maternity Care Coalition strengthen families and inspire change. We’ll see you at next year’s event!
