If you ask me, MCC’s My Family, Me & MCC Children’s Brunch is the single most fun fundraiser out there, which of course, makes it the best fundraising event to co-chair. This year’s event was held on Saturday, May 5th, and we had a wonderful turnout this year with over 200 registered guests. Our elegant venue, Radnor Valley Country Club, was taken over by moms, dads and most importantly, kids of all ages! From a buffet brunch featuring all the family favorites – waffle station, folks! – to the arts & crafts, games and DJ-led dance party, the event had something for absolutely everyone to enjoy.
This event would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of MCC volunteers, staff, vendors and my fellow Children’s Brunch committee members. Very special thanks to my co-chair, Sarah Schlossberg for her leadership, and committee members Eliza Foulke, Tracey Geller, Lauren Golden, Stacey Helmers, Nancy Neff, Lauren Orme, Jenny Profy, Jennifer Souder, Maggie Taylor, Sarah Weinstein, and Danielle Yoch. A huge round of applause to these busy moms who give so generously of their time, resources and creativity! I’d also like to give a shout out to our volunteer face painter, Melissa, who stayed a half an hour past the event end time to make sure all the kids waiting got their favorite designs.
What makes this event so special is it really is oriented to families and that is what MCC is all about. As a working mom of three, I often find myself spending nights away from home to attend formal fundraising events and am saddened about the time I miss with my family. That’s why MCC’s Children’s Brunch is so special – I could bring my family with me, and they had fun! And I got to help raise money for a wonderful organization!
This year’s brunch raised nearly $30,000 in support of MCC’s programs, and the pregnant women, parenting families and young children they serve in communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. We not only had a chance to spend time together as a family, but it was also inspiring to come together as part of the wider MCC family of supporters. Above all, we got to spread some much-needed joy to other families who are in need.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event next year!
