MCC has become an affiliate of Healthy Families America. Through this program we are helping families to reach their goals using a nationally recognized approach.
Healthy Families America (HFA) is a home visiting model designed to work with families whose children are at risk of being impacted by negative experiences including child abuse and neglect. With support from the Children’s Trust Fund and the North Penn United Way, the HFA MOMobile is currently serving families in Delaware County and in the North Penn and Souderton School Districts in Montgomery County. MCC is also working to expand these critical services to families in Philadelphia.
In 2009 HFA was designated as an evidence-based home visiting intervention by the United States Department of Health and Human Services as determined by the Home Visiting Evidence of Effectiveness study (HomVEE). By reviewing randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental research on the effectiveness of the HFA model, researchers found positive outcomes in the following areas:
- child health
- child development and school readiness
- reductions in child maltreatment
- positive parenting practices
- family economic self-sufficiency
- linkages and referrals
